Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat) : : Male : : Adult Contact Mango 2018's Caretaker/Foster Directly: Janet
Meet Mango. He is a beautiful orange and white 3 year old male. He has gorgeous pale blue eyes. Mango got off to a rough start. He was dumped in a residential neighborhood when he was about 1 yr. old and got into trouble quickly with a terrible tail injury. After weeks of unsuccessful attempts to trap him, his tail self amputated. Luckily, he survived this terrible injury. Finally, he was trapped, neutered, tested, for felv /fiv, vaccinated and ear tipped. However, the incident that caused him to lose his tail may also have been responsible for his becoming FIV positive. As is common in FIV positive kitties, Mango developed stomatitis and needed to have multiple tooth extractions. Another possibly related effect is his sensitivity to certain proteins in food. He’s doing fine on classic Fancy Feast and Simply Nourish, Duck and Oatmeal dry food. Mango is very sociable. He rises up on his hind legs to reach your hand as you pet him. He’s always glad to see you. He gets along well with other cats, but not dogs. He runs like a deer with his hind legs pumping in unison! Potential Adopters should be aware that Mango will always need to be monitored medically because of his FIV positive status and stomatitis. He is as healthy as can be right now and is up to date on all his vaccinations. Adoption fee is $65.00 which includes up-to-date shots, FeLV test (negative) and neuter surgery that is already done. Mango is litterbox trained. Prior to meeting or adopting any of our wonderful kitties, we ask that you please fill out our online Cat Adoption Application on our website AAFlorida.org.
